For over 20 years, Dr. Burns has combined his love of sports and his passion for medicine by providing care for numerous teams and athletes, including the Dallas Freeze of the Central Hockey League, State Champion Canyon Creek Christian Academy, the team physician for the NAHL Texas Tornado Junior A Hockey Team who were 5 time National Champions, and the lead team physician for the AFL Dallas Vigilantes . He has been the team physician for Plano East Senior High School for 19 years. He is also the team physician for Kurt Thomas Gymnastics, as well as the Director of Orthopaedic Services for the Nationwide PGA Tour Championship held at Craig Ranch in November of 2008.
Dr. William C. Burns, II has specialized in the care of pediatric and adult athletes, including performing arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder for over 20 years, and is one of the most well-respected and sought after orthopaedic surgeons in the area. He is a leader and innovator in the field of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction of the shoulder. Dr. Burns is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, and is one of the first orthopaedic surgeons to become Board Certified in Sports Medicine. Dr. Burns has served as Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Chief of Staff at Centennial Medical Center, and Chairman of the Board of the Surgery Centre at Craig Ranch and The Hospital at Craig Ranch. Dr. Burns was named one of America's Top Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Consumers' Research Council of America in 2008 and 2009. He has recently been appointed Medical Director for the Texas Health Surgery Center Craig Ranch.
